Mark has taught at Berklee College of Music since 2001, first as an Associate Professor and later a Professor. His former students have gone on to play with many popular artists such as Sting, Beyonce and Ricky Martin.
He created the first online drum set course offered by Berklee Online. Afro-Cuban Drums has been running successfully for several years and is open to non-Berklee students as well. Mark explains the course in a video here.
On campus, Mark teaches private lessons, ensembles, and two very popular labs he created: South American Rhythms for Drum Set, and Caribbean Rhythms for Drum Set. He also teaches Brazilian Rhythms and Percussion, a course open to all instrumentalists and vocalists.

Mark also authored World Jazz Drumming, an instructional book and CD from Berklee Press/Hal Leonard. This is the required text for his South American and Caribbean courses, as well as many of his private students.
